A study, by researchers at Harvard, will soon be coming out in Psychiatry Research Neuroimaging that proves mindfulness and meditation can make changes in the brain for empathy, sense of self, memory, and stress. This research doesn’t mean you have to change your religious beliefs to Buddhism. Mindfulness is simply being aware of “now”: What you’re thinking and feeling, what’s going on around you, and turning off auto pilot. There are many ways to meditate. The most common is concentration meditation, in which you focus on one thing. One form of mindful meditation is to be aware of thoughts, how they impact you, and how you deal with them.
