Your teen is gay. How will you find out and how should you respond? Some parents find out that their child is gay during the child’s high school years. Most likely it won’t be during a calm conversation. You are more likely to be told right in the middle of a screaming fight when your teen feels he has nothing to lose by “coming out of the closet.” He won’t tell you during a fight to hurt you, just to let you know his situation. Gay teens don’t have an easy life but your continued love and support can greatly ease the burden.
