If you want to be peaceful, a basic mindfulness meditation is a great place to start. Choose a quiet place to practice your meditation. If you can, sit cross-legged on a meditation cushion, otherwise, sit in a straight-backed chair with your feet flat on the floor, without touching the back of the chair. Gaze slightly downward at a point about six feet in front of you, keeping your eyes open. Remain aware of the environment while you lightly concentrate on your out-breath. When thoughts arise to distract you, return to following your breath. After your session, bring calm, mindfulness, and openness to the rest of your day.
