Unless we have a sudden need to defend ourselves or run for our lives, stress doesn’t do much for us, especially when we’re trying to lose weight. Stress actually causes hormonal changes that cause our bodies to hold on to fat and, for some, it causes stress eating. For many of us, just making the decision to lose weight can increase our stress levels. The thought of having to figure out what to eat and what not to eat each day and feeling like we’ve got to spend lots of time exercising can cause us to run screaming back to our old, unhealthy habits. Any successful weight loss plan must begin with reducing stress.
