They may certainly look and feel like clinical depression to the outsider, but they actually require just a small tweak in diet or hormones to correct. One condition that falls in that category is vitamin D deficiency. Researchers have found that low levels of vitamin D correspond to depression and an increased risk of depression. Hypothyroidism and low blood sugar are also easily mistaken for clinical depression, as sufferers feel exhausted, worthless, irritable, and incapable of making a decision.
