Basically, an assumption is something you believe in, but you don’t have proof. Some classic assumptions that can hurt relationships include: 1) believing you’re being cheated on; 2) believing people are always trying to get something from you; 3) believing you’re unappreciated; and 4) believing your significant other knows what’s in your head. The more assumptions people make and believe, the better chance they’ll affect relationships with loved ones, friends, and even ourselves. Be skeptical of secondhand information. Don’t buy into it without proof. It’s easy to latch onto something we “want” to hear, and that’s exactly the danger. Know when you’re assuming. If you didn’t see or hear it yourself, you’re assuming.
