Dr. Ruth’s new book, Dr. Ruth’s Guide for the Alzheimer’s Caregiver: How to Care for Your Loved One Without Getting Overwhelmed…and Without Doing It All Yourself, includes none of her trademark humor and briefly, but very appropriately, speaks of sex. Dr. Ruth, who has friends whose spouses have Alzheimer’s, wrote this book to make caring for someone with Alzheimer’s more tolerable. In it she not only suggests ways to cope and make caregiving easier, she gives detailed explanations of how to do it and covers topics ranging from dealing with feelings to dealing with legal issues. She frankly tells caregivers that “normalcy isn’t in the cards for you any longer.”
