A recent study conducted by the University of Chicago examined how aging impacts one’s sex life and marital bond. Unsurprisingly, they found that physical illness could impair a marriage, whether it was a chronic disease, a mobility issue, or a temporary ailment. However, they also found that when couples made an effort to maintain physical intimacy during these times, they were invariably likely to report improved relationship satisfaction. The key is to make an effort to stay connected, even if things are somewhat difficult at first. Sexual pleasure is about more than just orgasms; it’s about expressing love to your partner and receiving love in return, and that can be invaluable during difficult times.
