The Signs of Stress: Common Symptoms That Say ‘I’m Stressed Out!’

Stress is sneaky. Sometimes we don’t even know it’s there until we find ourselves freaking out about something. For National Stress Awareness Month, Huffington Post asked its Facebook followers to let them know when they become aware of their stress by having them complete the sentence: “I know the stress is starting to get to me when….” Experts then gave insight into why stress shows up the way it does. For example, one person finished the sentence with “…I get grumpy and don’t filter my thoughts before they come out of my mouth.” This urge comes from the amygdala region of the brain which processes stress. Over-stressed, it can become hyper-sensitive causing us to overreact.
