Studies Tout Power of Meditation

Meditation calms our mind and provides us with many health benefits. Recent studies back up the fact that meditation is one of the best things we can do for ourselves. From the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Department, comes a study indicating that mindfulness meditation is an effective way to lessen chronic and acute pain. At the University of Wisconsin-Madison, researchers discovered that adults who meditate may catch fewer colds and flu-type illnesses than non-meditators. Researchers at UCLA found that long-term meditation causes physically thicker brains with more gyrification, folding of the cortex, than people who don’t.
