Think about this: You’re walking down the street, and a huge truck is suddenly barreling straight for you. Your response is natural: fight or flight. Your body responds by increasing your adrenaline, heart rate, blood pressure, and changing your breathing. This is what a panic attack feels like. Here are four myths about panic attacks that we need to stop believing:

  1. Panic attacks are just an overreaction to stress.
  2. A panic attack can make you pass out.
  3. Anxiety and panic attacks are the same thing.
  4. If you have them, you’re stuck with them for the rest of your life.
