The sensations of a panic attack can range from a racing heart to a fear of dying. Panic attacks happen without warning and can make life unbearable. In her book, The Power of Acceptance, Judith Bemis helps anxiety sufferers realize that anxiety traps sufferers in a positive feedback loop which causes the body to react to panic by generating even more anxiety. The solution is to break the cycle by accepting the anxious feelings without judgment, viewing panic attacks as a neutral phenomenon, and observing one’s physical sensations with an attitude of detachment and trust that the attack will pass.
