Depression Harms Mind and Body

Getting in shape involves more than how you treat your body; it also involves taking care of your mind. The National Institute of Mental Health reports that in the United States about 19 million people each year suffer from depression and that two-thirds of them don’t get the help they need. Since about 80% of people with depression can be treated, that’s a lot of unnecessary suffering. There are many triggers for depression and many ways to treat it. Simply exercising can release endorphins that will elevate your mood. Another treatment method is mindfulness meditation which incorporates meditation to help you get in touch with your body and learn to accept and live with it.
