How much someone cares about what others think depends, or should depend, on the nature of their relationship. When everyone thinks ill of you, even if they aren’t people you admire, it’s hard not to feel depressed. In general, however, the opinion of strangers should not matter very much, while the opinions of your immediate family should matter the most. Unfortunately, some family members have a vested interest in thinking you are deficient. They’ll think you’re in the wrong no matter what you do, but others will take one look at you and approve. They’ll admire you for things you take for granted. Try to find these people.
