In order for those with agoraphobia or panic disorders to be cured, according to Fredric Neuman, M.D., they need to learn two things. The first is that no one is ever really trapped, there’s always a way to escape, and the second is that they won’t lose control during a panic attack. It doesn’t matter what the circumstances are or how bad the attack gets, none of the things they worry about like fainting, screaming, or vomiting will happen. After repeated attacks when none of these things occur, their fears fade away and they are cured. However, it’s been found that, once cured, phobics often develop health anxieties.
