As parents, we want our children to be happy. Because of this, we can sometimes get caught up in making them happy, not teaching them to be happy. Studies have proven that; just as with adults, children actually are happier when they give kindness instead of receive it. Try keeping a “happiness journal” where you and your children record an act of kindness every day for a month. Once a week, share some of your entries with each other and encourage your children on their actions. If you have time restraints, go out of your way to do acts of kindness with your children.
